Tajikistan kills Chelyabinsk Islamist
 [RFE/RL] Police in Panj, a city on Tajikistan's Afghan border, have killed a Russian citizen suspected of being an Islamist.Panj city police department officials said that local law enforcement officers shot Semyon Nagebin, who is from Chelyabinsk, late on April 23 after escaping from a local hospital with two pistols he forcibly took from police officers. According to officials, Nagebin was gunned down after he began shooting at police. Nagebin had been treated in the hospital after he was injured while trying to illegally cross the Afghan border on April 15. Authorities said that Nagebin called himself "Salim" and criticized Tajik officials, saying they "not real Muslims". The report from Tajik officials comes a day after Russian officials said that an alleged member of the banned Islamist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir had been detained in Chelyabinsk. Several Hizb ut-Tahrir members have been arrested or sentenced in recent months in the Chelyabinsk region, which borders Kazakhstan and Russia's primarily Muslim region of Bashkortostan.
