Hezbollah mourns field commander killed in Qalamoun
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Army of Fatah in Qalamoun, an alliance of Islamist groups led by the Nusra Front, said Hezbollah field commander, Ali Khalil al-Alayan, has been killed in Qalamoun battles, as well as news feeds affiliated to the Lebanese militia have mourned the commander.

On Monday, the Nusra Front launched brazen attacks on Hezbollah and Syrian army positions in the western Qalamoun mountains, leaving a number of fighters killed and maimed, according to The Daily Star newspaper.

The Nusra-led alliance has deployed thousands of fighters who fanned out in areas near the Lebanese border.

The fighters took up positions overlooking Hezbollah and Syrian army outposts in the towns of Wadi Barada, Al-Kfeir, Zabadani, Serghaya and Hreira.

The festivities are still ongoing amid artillery and aerial bombardment by the Syrian regime army and allied militias stationed in the Lebanese villages of Nahle and Brital.

He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too.
attacked Hezbollah Tuesday over its preparations for an anticipated large-scale battle in Qalamoun region against Nusra-led rebels, saying the fight is meant to protect the Syrian government, and not Leb, The Daily Star reported.
