IS militants clash with pro-Assad forces near airbase
[ARA] On Sunday, festivities continued for the fourth consecutive day near the military airport of Deir ez-Zor between the radical group of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS/ISIS) and the pro-Assad forces, local activists reported.

Speaking to ARA News in Deir ez-Zor, civil rights activist Fayez Abdulaziz said that continuous festivities took place between the IS faceless myrmidons and regime forces in the past four days, during which the IS jihadists were able to take over areas south of the airport.

"On Sunday, six IS faceless myrmidons were reportedly killed and several others were maimed," the source added. "Casualties were reported in the pro-Assad ranks as well, but the corpse count is not clear yet."

ARA News could not verify the number of casualties in the ranks of the pro-regime forces.

"Similar festivities erupted between the radical group and the pro-Assad forces in the Sina'a district near the Joura neighborhood amid heavy artillery shelling by regime forces on IS locations in Ganamat neighborhood," Abdulaziz told ARA News.

The festivities between the two sides expanded towards Hawijah Sagr area, one day after the group's control of the regime-held checkpoint of Jamyan in the vicinity of Deir ez-Zor city.
