Iraqi Police Battle U.S. Troops 'By Mistake'
U.S. forces fought with an Iraqi police unit in the center of the northern city of Kirkuk Saturday, police said, putting the clash down to a "mistake." Two Iraqi policemen were badly wounded and U.S. forces arrested six of their comrades after the overnight battle, police Colonel Farhat Qader said. "The battle happened by mistake," Qader said. He declined to elaborate. U.S. forces maintain bases in Kirkuk, a center of oil production.
