Syrian opposition figures end Astana talks without concrete outcome
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Number of Syrian opposition figures met on Monday and Tuesday in Astana, Kazakhstan's capital, in step to form common ground before planned Geneva talks over Syria but no concrete outcome had been reached as key opposition group the National Coalition boycotted the talks.

The meeting, which held at the request Randa Qasis, President and Founder of the Movement of the Pluralistic Society, has discussed returning to talks in Geneva, which collapsed last year, but no decisions were taken.

Astana's meeting was a continuation for Moscow talks which was boycotted by the Syrian Coalition last April and January.

The Syrian National Coalition has said it will only take part in the talks if they lead to Bashir al-Assad's departure.

Some of NC members opposed any participation in such talks while
others said we should be more flexible.

Meanwhile,
...back at the chili cook-off, Chuck and Manuel's rivalry was entering a new and more dangerous phase...
most of the factions fighting in Syria, including the most powerful single myrmidon force, the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, have had nothing to do with any political discussions between the Syrian government and its political opponents.
