[Libya Herald] Staff working with Mellitah Oil and Gas have protested outside the National Oil Corporation in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
at the kidnapping of Yusuf Al-Shamani, a member of Mellitah's administrative committee, who was seized by a gang while travelling between Tripoli and Sabratha on Sunday.

Condemning the abduction and holding the government responsible for the kidnapping, the protestors demanded yesterday it take action to ensure Shamani was freed. They also demanded better protection for oil workers saying that they were being caught between the country's warring factions.

In a statement, Mellitah said that at the moment it did not know who was behind the kidnapping but was hoping that the kidnappers would make contact.

Kidnappings continue to plague Tripoli. Most are for financial ransom although some are political. On Sunday the body of former Ciongress member body Salem Ali Hamali, who was kidnapped ten days earlier, was found south of Tripoli.
