Official: 57 killed in intense Salahadin battle with ISIS
[Rudaw] At least 57 fighters from ISIS and Iraqi security forces were killed in an intense fight in Iraq's Salahadin province, a security official told local media on Sunday.Raid Jawdat, an Iraqi Federal Police commander, estimated that 40 ISIS fighters and 17 members of Iraqi security forces died in a battle for Fatha area in Salahadin province. The Shiite militia called the Badr Organization claimed in a blurb on Sunday their forces managed to repel the ISIS gunnies in the Fatha area and killed 30 hard boyz while destroying the group's armored vehicles. The majority of Salahadin province was liberated over the last few months by Iraqi forces led by the Shiite militias and tribal gunnies.
