Loadshedding challenged in court
[DAWN] Single-member bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) will take up on Wednesday the petition challenging scheduled power outages during Itar, Sehri and Traveeh timings.The petitioner Tariq Asad advocate stated that despite the tall claims of the government the electricity scheduled power outages is being carried out in different areas. He said that during the prayers timings the light also goes in most of the mosques. According to the petition, it is the fundamental right of the petitioner and the Moslem citizens of Pakistain, guaranteed by Article 20, to profess and practice religion, but providing uncongenial environments in order to deprive them from professing and practicing the religion is tantamount to the violation of fundamental rights. The petition requested the court to direct the federal government to resolve this issue by simply changing the schedule of scheduled power outages. The petition cited district magistrate/deputy commissioner and chief executive officer of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company Iesco as respondents. Posted by: Fred 2015-06-24 |
