Record 137,000 migrants have crossed Med this year, says UN
[THETIMES.CO.UK] Europe is facing "a maritime refugee crisis of historic proportions", the United Nations...an idea whose time has gone... has warned. It said that a record 137,000 people had crossed the Mediterranean in the first six months of this year. The numbers were 83 per cent higher than the same period last year, a report by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees said.
