Jim Webb announces White House candidacy
h/t InstapunditFormer Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.) has officially entered the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, he announced on his website Thursday afternoon. Webb, who spent one term in the Senate before retiring in 2013, called for a "fresh approach" to solving the nation's biggest problems and a leader who can stand up to the "shadow elites [of] our political process" in a statement. He faces long odds of defeating favorite Hillary Clinton or usurping Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) as her main foil, but has polled ahead of former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley in some recent polls.
