Somalia, AU takes control of Diinsoor
BAIDOA -- The Somalia troops together with African Union peacekeeping forces have taken control of Diinsoor town in Bay region as Al Shabab militants vacated from the town, officials said.
How soon before they leave?
The coalition forces entered inside the town, and launched an operation to clear the bomb explosives that Al Shabab planted on the roadsides in the town shortly before its militants withdrew from the stronghold. Somalia’s south-west forces’ commander, Abdullahi Sheikh Mohamed told Shabelle Media Network based in Mogadishu allied troops succeeded to flush Al Shabab out of the town, urging local residents to be calm.

Sheikh Mohamed called on government and humanitarian agencies to help poor residents living in the town of Diinsoor where Al Shabab militants had been ruling many years as residents did not get any humanitarian aid.

The Diinsoor town, a 2nd Al Shabab strategic town fell to Somalia National Army along with African Union Mission for Somalia (AMISOM) peacekeeping forces who launched new military offensive against Al Shabab.
