Norks behind Scuds fired into Saudi Arabia from Yemen
[Yonhap] Scud missiles fired into Saudi Arabia by Yemeni insurgents in recent months came from North Korea, according to a South Korean intelligence official, again illustrating North Korea's support for the weapons programs in the Middle East.
The official said that Saudi Arabia has shot down about 40 percent of some 20 Scud missiles fired by Houthi militants. He did not explain how South Korea reached the conclusion that the missiles originated in North Korea.
A former North Korean official, who was in a position to know about such arms deals, said, "North Korea has sold missiles to Yemen and sent missile engineers to that country in the 1990s."
Another former North Korean intelligence official said North Korea sold many Scuds to nations in the Middle East, adding that Egypt is the hub of the North Korean arms trade in the region.
