Taliban leader Omar's tale reflects clashing agendas
[WAPO] Milt Bearden, a former CIA operative in Pakistan and Afghanistan, said that "it is beyond puzzling" that Omar's death could go unconfirmed for so long, especially given the intelligence and surveillance capabilities of the United States.
Puzzling to some possibly.

Hey Milt, here's a clue. If you report the death of the TB leader, then a replacement TB leader or successor must be searched for and identified. If you ignore the lapse in Special Intelligence reporting on Omar, and do nothing, then the problem appears to simply go away, which is the regime's goal in AFG.

Taking it a step further, if Omar's successor is also basing his opns out of Pakistan, why cause a stink with our Paki pals ?

Rooters has more 'inside baseball' spin.
