Village official gunned down in southern Thailand
[Bangkok Post] An assistant village leader was killed and a defense volunteer critically injured in a drive-by shooting in Narathiwat province Tuesday evening. The attack occurred at a roadside shelter near a tea shop in Chanae district.The village official and the village security volunteer were drinking tea when two men on a motorcycle slowed and the pillion rider fired two shots at each man from a pistol and fled. The bullets hit the official in the chest and neck, killing him instantly. The volunteer was hit in the chest and stomach.
