World's shortest man, 21.5 inches tall, has died at the age of 75
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The shortest man in the world died at the age of 75 due to an illness he was suffering from recently, it has reported.

Chandra Dangi, who stood at 1ft 21.5 inches tall, passed away at the Lyndon B. Johnson Tropical Medical Center in Pago Pago in American Samoa in the Pacific early Friday morning.

Hailing from Nepal, Dangi was awarded the titles of shortest living man by Guinness World Records in 2012.

He had travelled to American Samoa for an appearance where he was admitted to hospital after his health condition worsened.

According to officials of Lyndon B. Johnson Tropical Medical Center, Mr. Dangi died of an undisclosed disease but it was believed he'd been suffering from pneumonia.

The Guinness World Records issued a statement following his death saying it was "deeply saddened" to hear of his passing.

"GWR would like to express its sincere and heartfelt condolences to Mr Dangi's family in this difficult time," the statement, said adding that "He will be remembered forever as an iconic and extraordinary record holder."

Gul Mohammad from New Delhi in India was previously holding the record of the shortest man in the world who measured 22.5 inches and died at the age of 40 in 1997.

He had also travelled to London two years after receiving the award from Guinness World Records to meet meet the world's tallest man, 8ft 2in Sultan Kosen from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
