US and China Reach Historic Agreement on Economic Espionage
[Wired] THE US AND China have been sparring for years over allegations that the Chinese government has been hacking US companies to steal trade secrets. Today the two announced a historic agreement that, at least on its face, puts an end to this kind of spying.
President Obama said during a press conference today with visiting Chinese President Xi Jinxing, that the two nations have reached a "common understanding" to not conduct or support cyber espionage and intellectual property theft for the purposes of commercial gain.
There's more at the link. The agreement does not cover so-called "nation-state spying" so if they keep breaking into White House, Pentagon and Hildebeest computers it's OK. And with all the bots they most certainly have in other countries the Chicoms probably feel they can keep on doing whatever they want and blame it on third parties. (Wudn't us.) Anybody wanna take odds on whether Champ got snookered?
