Afghan Troops Retake Badakhshan District
[Tolo News] Ministry of Defense has confirmed that after a large-scale military operation, Afghan cops managed to retake Baharak district in the north-eastern Badakhshan province on Saturday morning.The operation was launched on Friday night after the arrival of reinforcements troops from Kabul ...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the Worldand didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either.... . The district fell to the Taliban earlier in the day. Meanwhile, ...back at the bunker, his Excellency called a hurried meeting of his closest advisors. It was to be his last. They discussed the officers's efficiency rating system... Badakhshan provincial council has said that the Taliban are making gains in some other parts of the province after taking control of Wardoj and Baharak. One MP, Fawzia Kofi said: "If the collapse of Wardoj and Baharak districts to Taliban is not handled, this will bring Faizabad, center of the province, under threat," MP Fawzia Kofi said.
