Two Egyptian dancers handed reduced jail sentences
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An Egyptian court reduced the prison sentence for dancers Shakira and Bardis to three months from an earlier sentence of six months.They were imprisoned for inciting debauchery by filming a video clip that included sexual undertones. The dancers' lawyers contend that the video clips are works of art that can be interpreted in different ways. In March, Saffinaz, a well-known dancer, was sentenced to six months in jail for insulting the national flag after she appeared in a video wearing a dress in its colours.
