NDS detains Taliban commander on way to Pakistan
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The National Directorate of Security...the Afghan national intel agency... (NDS) -- Afghanistan's intelligence agency has locked away Book 'im, Mahmoud! a Taliban capo who was trying to escape to Quetta city of Pakistain after participating in heavy festivities in Afghanistan. A statement released by NDS on Saturday states that Sayed Mohammad-ud-Din alias Sadat was detained together with one of his ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... province. Mohammad-ud-Din has confessed to NDS during initial investigation that he played key role in attack on Qaisar District of Faryab province. As a result of the attack, Taliban took control of several areas in Qaisar District but they were pushed back by a military operation led by first vice-President Abdul Rashid Dostum ...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier... . During the operation, Gen. Dostum escaped unharmed from a Taliban ambush in Qaisar District in mid August. Also, three jacket wallahs were arrested in Qaisar district who had intended to kill the first vice-President.
