5 die in airstrikes near Raqqa
ARA News ALEPPO – At least five children have been killed in an airstrike believed to be conducted by the international coalition’s forces on a school in the northeastern Syrian city of Raqqa, the major stronghold of the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS), activists reported on Thursday. Speaking to ARA News in Raqqa, civil rights activist Anas Raqqawi reported that “nine civilians were killed, including five children, and 13 others were hardly injured in an airstrike on the Hetin primary school” in the ISIS de facto capital Raqqa. Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently (RBSS), a monitoring group documenting ISIS violations in Raqqa, released images showing large pieces of metal shrapnel from rockets. “The area surrounding Hetin school was used by ISIS as a public square for punishments where the ISIS-linked Sharia Court punishes opponents,” Raqqawi said. On Thursday, the group chopped off a man’s hand after being accused of robbery.
