Maoist militant killed in clash in Mindanao
 [Inquirer] A suspected Maoist militant was killed in a clash with Philippine troops in a hinterland village in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, early Thursday morning.Two firearms and at least nine improvised bombs were also recovered after a 25-minute gun battle in Anticala village said military spokesman Joe Patrick Martinez. He said troops from the 29th Infantry Battalion were fired upon by the New People's Army.
