BIFF attacks three military detachments
[CNN Philippines] The Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters attacked three military detachments on New Year's eve. BIFF militants first attacked a mechanized infantry company in Datu Piang, Maguindanao with a grenade launcher.The next assault was at an infantry detachment in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao. An estimated 30 BIFF rebels took part in the attack. An hour later, the insurgents struck a detachment in Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Maguindanao. However, military forces were prepared and fought back. A 15-minute gun battle ensued and the militants withdrew in different directions.
