Egyptian troop deployment abroad extended for one year
Egypt's National Defence Council agreed in a meeting on Monday to extend the deployment of Egyptian Armed Forces units in the Gulf area, the Red Sea and the Bab Al-Mandab strait for an additional year, or until the end of their mission. Egyptian naval and air force troops have been participating in the Saudi-led military operation in Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic... against Iranian-backed Houthi fights since March 2015. The council meeting in Cairo was headed by President El-Sisi and was attended by the ministers of defence, finance and interior, as well as the parliament speaker, the prime minister, and the Armed Forces chief of staff and branch commanders. The meeting, which was also attended by the heads of the General Intelligence Service and military intelligence, involved discussions on the latest national and regional security developments as well as the fight against terrorism in North Sinai.
