White shoppers call for boycott after black Sam's Club CEO Rosalind Brewer rips lack of diversity with company's top suppliers
[NYDAILYNEWS] Brewer also told Poppy Harlow "my executive team is very diverse, and I make that a priority. I demand it of my team and within the structure. And then, every now and then, you have to nudge your partners, and you have to speak up and speak out."Many people are now speaking out against Brewer, calling her racist and using the Twitter hashtag "BoycottRacistSamsClub." Sam's Club, which has 650 stores nationwide, is owned by Walmart. "I am so disappointed in you @SamsClub You should be ASHAMED! I'm NOT spending another cent! #BoycottRacistSamsClub," read one tweet. "If Sams Club hates white males so much, then we'll take our business elsewhere!," read another. "You hired a CEO based on race instead of skillset," another user wrote. Some people on social media did come to Brewer's defense. "Did the ppl who are outraged & tweeting about a #SamsClub #boycott actually here the interview or just jumping on the hype?" one user tweeted.
