In absence of govt Jalawla residents clear town with own hands
Good for them.
[Rudaw] Just weeks after their return residents of the town of Jalawla have started clearing their streets and public places of rubble and the aftermath of war.

Around 200 families returned to Jalawla last month after it was cleared of many bombs and explosives left behind by bully boyz of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....

The town's municipality machinery were destroyed in the war or stolen by ISIS. So these people use their own tools.

They hope for more support from the Diyala government.

Jalawla was taken by ISIS August 2014 but it was liberated by the Kurdish Peshmerga three months later.

The town is home to Kurds, Arabs, and Turkmen.
