The source said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, “Today, ISIS executed three of its Afghan leaders in Mosul who tried to escape across the Syrian borders.” The source added on condition of anonymity, “The execution was carried out by firing squad in front of a crowd of citizens in the center of the city of Mosul.” Iraqi forces are preparing to launch Mosul offensive, says Obeidi (IraqiNews.com) Erbil – Iraqi Defense Minister Khaled al-Obeidi announced, that the security forces are preparing for the battle of Mosul with the participation of various paramilitary forces. Obeidi was quoted during his visit to Cairo as saying: “The Iraqi defense ministry announced security plans to launch the Mosul liberation operations from ISIS militants,” adding that, “Tens of thousands of volunteer fighters will participate in the battle alongside the government forces.” He also pointed out, “The Iraqi army and security forces in coordination with the international coalition managed to defeat ISIS in Anbar province and Ramadi city in particular.”
