Heavy fighting between Shaboobs and KDF erupts in Gedo
Heavy fighting between Al shabaab and KDF erupted in Gedo region, south west of Somalia as Kenyan troops withdrew from El Adde town on Tuesday.Militants ambushed KDF convoy near Likoley village as they were withdrawing from El Adde after Al shabaab killed one hundred of Kenyan soldiers at El Addo base on January 15. Two KDF vehicles were destroyed in the attack which began with IED blast. Residents in the area reported deadly aerial bombardment by KDF jets on near El Adde, targeting Al shabaab bases in Gedo region. At least three people were wounded in the airstrike. Since El Adde attack, KDF jets carried out several deadly airstrikes in Gedo, in revenge for the soldiers killed in the attack by Somalia-based Al shabaab, a group linked with Al Qaeda.
