Iraqi warbirds hit ISIS targets in Kirkuk, security sweep nabs 17
(IraqiNews.com) Kirkuk – A security source revealed early on Wednesday, that dozens of ISIS members were killed in an aerial bombardment carried out by the Iraqi F16 fighter jets in Hawija southwest of Kirkuk (250 km north of Baghdad).

The source said in an interview obtained by IraqiNews.com, “Today, Iraqi F16 fighter jets bombed vital targets, including ISIS headquarters and gatherings in Hawija and its surroundings, (45 km southwest of Kirkuk), killing dozens of ISIS members, as well as destructing the goals completely.”

The source, on condition of anonymity, added, “The shelling was carried out based on information from the Anti-Terrorism Bureau and Directorate of Military Intelligence.”

17 detained in security sweep in Kirkuk

(IraqiNews.com) Kirkuk – On Wednesday, a security source revealed, that a force from Kirkuk emergency regiments managed to arrest seventeen suspects in a wide-scale operation on the province’s hotels.

The source said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “Today, a force from Kirkuk police emergency regiments, under the command of Brigadier General Khattab Omar, has carried out a security operation on a large number of the province’s hotels, while managed to arrest 17 suspects.”

The source added, “The operation was carried out based on accurate intelligence information,” pointing out that, “The arrested were sent to a security center for interrogation.”
