Germany jails leftist for bombing
"Into das paddyvagen mit dir!" | A German court has sentenced a suspected former ultra-left guerrilla to 12 years in jail for a 1991 bomb attack on Soviet Jews in Budapest. Andrea Klump, 47, was convicted on 32 counts of being an accessory to attempted murder - charges she denied. The court in Stuttgart linked the bombing to a group called the "Movement for the Liberation of Palestine". Klump - already serving a nine-year sentence - has been linked to Germany's ultra-left Red Army Faction. Birds of a feather, etc.. | The Budapest attack injured two police officers and four passengers, who were on their way to the city's airport to catch a flight to Israel. Klump was jailed in 2001 for her role in the failed 1988 bombing of a Spanish disco frequented by US servicemen. She admitted last month that she had prior knowledge of the Budapest attack, but denied direct involvement in the plot. Investigators found DNA evidence in 2001 linking her to a Budapest apartment at the time of the bombing.
