ISIS destroys Christian residences in Mosul
[ARA News] ERBIL – Militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) radical group have destroyed a number of houses that belonged to Christian families in Mosul city of Iraq’s northwestern Nineveh province, local sources reported on Wednesday.“ISIS militants bombed more than 20 houses that belonged to displaced Christian families,” said Muhammad al-Jabouri, an Iraqi security officer in Nineveh province. “The bombed houses were located in the Bakkir neighborhood and Al-Arabi district in eastern Mosul,” he said. “Hundreds of other houses that belonged to the Christian minority have been destroyed earlier by the militants in Mosul.” Thousands of Christians have been displaced from Mosul since the ISIS invasion into the city in June 2014. ISIS had confiscated hundreds of houses for displaced Christian families in Mosul. Some of those houses have been handed over to ISIS jihadis, while others have been bombed by the radical group in a bid to prevent the Christian civilians from returning to their hometown.
