5 policemen martyred, 6 wounded in an insider attack in Kandahar
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least five coppers were martyred and six others sustained injuries in an insider attack in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan.The incident took place late on Wednesday evening in Abdul Rauf area of Zherai district, a local security official said. The official further added that two coppers opened fire on their comrades while they were having dinner in a security check post. The official further added that the two coppers were apparently affiliated with the Talibs. Kandahar is among the relatively volatile provinces in southern Afghanistan where anti-government armed gunnies are actively operating in its various districts and often carry out insurgency activities. The Talibs group has grabbed credit behind the incident which comes amid rampant insurgency led by the group across the country. This comes as at least ten coppers were martyred in a similar attack in southern Uruzgan province of Afghanistan late last month.
