Israeli Troops Enter Northern Gaza
Israeli tanks and troops moved into the northern Gaza Strip Tuesday, firing a number of shells, witnesses said. There were no reports of injuries. More than 30 armored vehicles massed on the border near the Palestinian towns of Beit Hanoun and Beit Lehiya and the army said an operation was planned to try to stop Palestinian militants from firing rockets at nearby Israeli towns. Earlier in the day Palestinian militants fired four home made rockets at the border town of Sderot. There were no injuries. Troops have frequently raided northern Gaza communities to stop the rocket fire, largely to no avail.
