2 die in Baghdad bomb attack

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A source in the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday, that nine people had been either killed or wounded in a bomb blast south of Baghdad.

The source said in a press statement obtained by IraqiNews.com, “A bomb exploded, this morning, near a popular market in Mahmudiya District south of Baghdad, killing two people and wounding seven others.”

The source, who requested anonymity, added, “A security force rushed to the area and transferred the wounded to a nearby hospital for treatment and the dead bodies to the forensic medicine department, while cordoned off the area and prevented approaching it.”

1 dead in double bomb attack

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A source in the Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday, that 10 people including police members had been either killed or wounded in a double bombing north of Baghdad.

The source said in a press statement obtained by IraqiNews.com, “A bomb exploded, this evening, in Tarmiya Village north of Baghdad, killing one person and injuring five others.”

The source, who asked anonymity, added, “Another explosive device exploded when the security forces arrived in the area of the first blast, killing four police members, including a captain.”

5 detained in Baghdad security sweep

The source said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “This morning the security forces carried out a number of raids and search operations in al-Azamiya, al-Dawra and al-Fadl areas in Bagdad, arresting five people on charges of terrorism.”

The source added, “The arrest operations were carried out based on judicial orders,” pointing out that, “The detainees were transferred to the security center for interrogation.”

Robbers hit residence

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A police source revealed, that gunmen wearing military uniform robbed a house and stole 40 million dinars, in addition to gold jewelry in eastern Baghdad.

The source told reporters, “This morning, gunmen wearing military uniform robbed a house in al-Amin area in eastern Baghdad, while managed to steal 40 million dinars and gold jewelry of 50 million dinars.”

“A security force rushed to the robbed house and opened an investigation to reveal the circumstances of the incident,” he added.
