Tribesmen boycott anti-polio drive
 [DAWN] GHALANAI: Tribesmen of 25 disputed villages and elders of Aman Tabar, Hafeez Kor, Mazi Khel and Burkhan Khel tribes here have boycotted the upcoming anti-polio...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set... drive in protest against what they called vaccination teams consisting of non-local people. Jalil Khan, a local tribal leader, told Dawn that rustics of disputed villages had boycotted the last three polio drives, and it would be the fourth time that they would boycott the campaign in protest against hiring of non-local people in the polio drives instead of the local rustics. He urged the government to include local people in the polio teams instead of hiring people form Charsadda and other districts. The elders complained that there had been no development works in the disputed villages for last 25 years, adding schools and health units were in need of repairs. They said they would not cooperate with polio teams and police in carrying out their responsibilities. The rustics made it clear that they would only accept the writ of the  Mohmand Agency... Named for the Mohmand clan of the Sarban Pahstuns, a truculent, quarrelsome lot. In Pakistain, the Mohmands infest their eponymous Agency, metastasizing as far as the plains of Peshawar, Charsadda, and Mardan. Mohmands are also scattered throughout Pakistan in urban areas including Karachi, Lahore, and Quetta. In Afghanistan they are mainly found in Nangarhar and Kunar... political administration.
