ISIS said it was their assassins in Faisalabad
FAISALABAD: The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the killing of three police personnel in Faisalabad, police said on Saturday.

On Friday, two men riding a motorcycle opened fire on three personnel, including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), of the Punjab Highway Patrol near Merawala Bangla. As a result, three policemen were killed.

A police investigator said they had seized 40 pamphlets of the IS from the crime scene, claiming responsibility for the attack. He said the militant group also threatened more attacks on the law enforcement agencies.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan reiterated on February 13 that IS had no presence in Pakistan. He said that some terrorist organisations functioning in the country were using IS’s name. Besides police, other law enforcement agencies have also initiated investigations to find clues to IS’s involvement in the recent terrorist attacks. Another investigator said that security officials were trying to find out if IS or some local religious group was involved in the recent terrorist attacks.
