NDS rescues hostage as kidnappers demanded $1 million ransom
A hostage was released from the restive Maidan Wardak province of Afghanistan with the interference of the Afghan intelligence operatives as the kidnappers demanded a ransom of $1 million for his release.

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said the hostage was kept in Syedabad district after he was kidnapped by the unidentified gunmen.

Identified as Ahmadullah son of Hamidullah, an original resident of Syedabad district, the hostage was kept in a shop in Koh Sandawar district.

NDS said the kidnappers were demanding a ransom of $1 million but was released during an operation by the intelligence operatives and was safely handed over to his family.

No further details were given by NDS if any suspect was arrested in connection to the abduction of Ahmadullah.

Kidnap for ransom cases still continue in parts of the country despite the Afghan intelligence nabbed two MAFIA bosses involved in major kidnappings who were later executed by the government.

The two top MAFIA leaders, Habib Istalif and Raees Khudaidad, were executed late in 2014 and early in 2015 after they were arrested by intelligence operatives
