4 dead in Wichita, KS shooting
Video at the link shows the shooter firing an AK in an open field on full auto. He didn't buy it over the counter and he didn't get it in a kit.
[KWCH] Sheriff T. Walton said four people, including the shooter, were killed at the Hesston company Thursday afternoon. Fourteen other people were hurt. Six people are being treated at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita - two critical, four stable. Four people are being treated at Wesley Medical Center - three critical, one in surgery. Four others are being treated at Newton Medical Center.

Walton said the incident started at 5 p.m. at 12th and Meridian at Newton. Two vehicles were shot at, one driver was hit. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. The second driver was not shot. The shooter was shooting from inside a separate vehicle.

Walton said the shooter then traveled down Meridian to Hwy 81, where he shot another person in the leg. At that location, there was a report of a stolen vehicle.

Walton said the shooter took the vehicle and went to Excel Industries. Once he got there, he shot one person in the parking lot and then went inside the building where he shot 15 more people. Four people were killed including the shooter.

Walton said the first officer on the scene, shot and killed the shooter.

"There was particular law enforcement here in Hesston that responded right away. And even though he took fire, he went inside of that place and saved multiple, multple lives. A hero as far as I'm concerned."

Walton said fifteen KBI agents will now do an investigation inside Excel. He said there are a number of crime scenes.

He said the shooter used a long gun, something like an assault rifle - he also had a pistol on him.

"We always talk about, 'it can't happen here, and everybody says, 'it can't happen here.' But it's all those places that it happens at and here we are. It happened here... "This is a fairly peaceful community and to have something like this is tragic."

Excel will remain closed until law enforcement complete their investigation on the crime scene.
The Times of Israel adds:
The gunman was an employee at Excel Industries.

Local media identified the gunman as Cedric Ford, who worked as a painter at the factory and had posted a picture of himself on Facebook with an assault rifle.

Local media said Ford had an extensive criminal record, including a history of prowling, loitering and illegal weapons possession.

Several employees at the plant reportedly told the media they believed that the shooter had emotional and mental problems.
