3 killed, 19 wounded in Jalalabad attack
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] 3 people lost lives and 19 others sustained injuries when armed holy warriors attacked Indian consulate in Jalalabad city, capital of eastern NangarharThe unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country.. province, around 12 pm on Wednesday. One of the 5 attackers detonated his explosives to blow up the barricades in front of the front gate of the consulate in order to pave way for other attackers to storm the consulate. However, a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package... they were bumped off by security forces during a brief shootout. There was no casualties to Indian diplomats and consulate employees but it left a policeman and two civilians killed and 19 others maimed including women and kiddies. 14 victims who sustained light injuries were discharged from the hospital but five others are still admitted at Nangarhar Regional Hospital whose wounds are severe.
