Report: Germany probing Islamic State link to policeman's stabbing

[Ynet] German prosecutors investigating a 15-year-old girl over the stabbing of a policeman in Hanover last week are exploring a possible connection to Islamic State

(IS) Lion of Islams, Germany's Focus magazine reported on Thursday.

Focus said the policeman was injured in the neck during the attack but that his life was not in danger. Police suspected the attack had "an IS background", the magazine added.

Prosecutors and police said the 33-year-old German, whose name wasn't released, was enjugged

Thursday in Berlin. Officers searched fourproperties in the capital and Mannheim, his home city, seizing a firearm scope alongside documents and cellphones.

Officials accuse him of radicalizing a mentally disabled 24-year-old German man in Freiburg, where he previously lived, and supplying him with "military articles." They allege the younger man traveled to Syria and Iraq in 2014 after the suspect bought him a one-way ticket, and say he carried out a suicide kaboom in Beiji last May that killed at least 12 Iraqi soldiers.
