Hassan Yaaqoub's Brother Arrested at Airport
[An Nahar] The brother of former MP Hassan Yaaqoub was locked awayDon't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out! at Rafik Hariri International Airport on Monday against the backdrop of the kidnapping of Hannibal Qadaffy, the state-run National News Agency reported. NNA said Hussein Yaaqoub was apprehended based on a judicial arrest warrant. The former politician was arrested in December and charged for his involvement in the kidnapping of Hannibal Qadaffy, the son of slain Libyan leader Muammar Qadaffy ...whose instability was an inspiration to dictators everywhere, but whose end couldn't possibly happen to them... Hannibal was kidnapped in a Syrian area near the Lebanese border on December 11 before being smuggled into Leb's Bekaa region. He was handed over hours later to Lebanese security forces. Lebanese authorities have charged Hannibal with withholding information about the disappearance of revered Shiite holy man and founder of the AMAL Movement Moussa al-Sadr, who vanished in Libya in 1978 along with two companions. The Yaaqoub brothers are the sons of Sheikh Mohammed Yaaqoub -- one of the two companions who disappeared with al-Sadr in Libya. NNA said Monday that their mother Sheikha Imthal was hospitalized following the arrest of her son at the airport.
