200 Flee area of Kirkuk

(IraqiNews.com) Kirkuk – A source in Peshmerga forces in Kirkuk Province announced on Tuesday, that 200 people fled from the areas controlled by ISIS southwest and north of Kirkuk (250 km north of Baghdad), while emphasized that the escapees arrived in the areas controlled by Peshmerga forces.

The source said in a statement obtained by IraqiNews.com, “200 people, including children and women escaped from the areas controlled by ISIS in southern and western Kirkuk, as well as the regions of Zab, al-Qaraj, al-Kwir and the outskirts of Makhmour (75 km north-west of Kirkuk),” noting that, “The Peshmerga forces received the escaped families in Makhmour axis.”

The source, who asked anonymity, added, “The families are in extremely difficult situation, after spending the whole day trying to avoid ISIS fighters to reach the areas controlled by Peshmerga.”

Noteworthy the northern and southern areas of Kirkuk are still under ISIS control since June 2014, including the areas of Hawija, Zab, Riyad, Abbasi and Rashad.

ISIS attacks Taza area with rocket artillery

(IraqiNews.com) Kirkuk – A source in Kirkuk Province announced on Tuesday, that the so-called ISIS carried out an attack using 11 Katyusha rockets on Taza area in southern Kirkuk (250 km north of Baghdad), while pointed out that the attack didn’t inflict any casualties.

The source reported for IraqiNews.com, “This evening, ISIS militants who control Qasabat Bashir area, carried out a new attack targeted Taza area with 11 Katyusha rockets.”

The source, who requested anonymity, added, “The rockets fell on a number of residential buildings in Taza, as well as some public squares,” indicating that, “The attack inflicted material damage on some houses without any casualties.”

ISIS explosive expert killed by Iraqi militia

(IraqiNews.com) Kirkuk – A source within al-Hashed al-Sha’bi militia announced on Tuesday the killing of an ISIS explosives expert south of the province.

The source said in a brief statement received by IraqiNews.com, “Today, a force from al-Abbas Regiment was able to kill the ISIS explosives official Maher Jassim al-Jawali during [security] operations in al-Bashir (30 km south of Kirkuk),” adding that, “Jawali was killed after he was targeted alongside a group of [ISIS] members.”

The statement added, “Jawali is one of the most prominent explosives experts of ISIS.”
