US Troops in Helicopter-Borne Raid in Somalia: US Official
[ALMANAR.LB] US troops took part in a helicopter-borne special forces raid against Shebab insurgents in Somalia, a US official said Wednesday.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the overnight Tuesday to Wednesday operation as a "US partnered raid" with US troops accompanying Somali forces.

An Nahar adds:

U.S. aircraft were used in the operation, which the front man described as an "advise, assist and accompany mission" with the Somali army.

"We did go on the mission but we did not go all the way to the objective," Navy Captain Jeff Davis said.

Shabelle adds: "top" Al shabaab leaders killed in US airstrike on Raso camp

A Somali official says senior Al shabaab commanders are among 150 militants killed in a U.S. airstrike on a training camp in Hiiraan region of central Somalia.
Senior = number three?
The district commissioner of Bulo-Burte Abdiaziz Durow confirmed the death of the Al shabaab’s head of defense Sheikh Abukar Ali Aden and other top leaders who were killed in drone attack.

Mr Durow said the slain leaders were attending a closing ceremony for new Al shabaab recruits trained in Raso camp near Bulo-Burte town at the time of the U.S. airstrike last Saturday.

Those killed in the U.S. Drone attack include Yusuf Ali Ugas, Al shabaab governor who was in charge of Hiiraan region and Mohamed Mire, a high-ranking militant leader.

The Pentagon has announced U.S. drone attack killed 150 Al shabaab members in the airstrike, targeted Raso training camp located west of Bulo-Burte town, a figure Al-Shabaab described as an exaggeration.
