Turkey bombards Daesh positions in northern Syria
[AA.TR] Turkish artillery fired on Daesh [Islamic State] positions in Syria on Saturday, a security source said.Units based in Kilis province fired at targets around Azaz, a town around five kilometers (three miles) to the south of the border, the source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media. The source did not identify any particular threat leading up to the bombardment or say what targets were hit. Two rockets fired from Syria landed close to an army barracks, police headquarters and court house in Kilis Saturday. A third rocket landed in a farm land in the province, security source added. There were no immediate reports of casualties. Authorities in the area took measures to tighten security. Bomb-dismantling experts also started a large scale search operation in the area.
