32 ISIS troops die in attacks on Kobane
ARA NewsKOBANE – Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) reported Saturday death of dozens of militants from the Islamic State (ISIS) radical group in the countryside of Kobane in northern Syria. The YPG’s Media Center said in a statement that the Kurdish fighters have deterred several car bomb attacks near the Tishreen Dam south of Kobane. “ISIS terrorists launched an excessive assault from the western side of the Euphrates River on headquarters of the YPG in the area between Jarablus and the Tishreen dam.” The statement added that the YPG forces were able to destroy more than five ISIS vehicles before reaching their targets. YPG spokesman Sarhad Abbas told ARA News: “Subsequent to the attacks, clashes broke out between our forces and ISIS terrorists in the vicinity of Tishreen Dam.” The clashes, which continued until Saturday midnight, resulted in the death of 32 ISIS militants, according to the Kurdish official. Abbas added that four YPG fighters were killed and seven others were wounded, before the Kurdish units were able to drive ISIS from the area.
