Ethiopian court imposes lengthy prison sentences on 28 Shaboobs
Dozens of terrorists were given prison sentences of up to 21 years by an Ethiopia court on Friday for trying to establish an Islamic state and membership of al-Shabaab, the east African offshoot of al-Qaeda.

The 28 defendants received terror training in 2003 and joined al-Shabaab three years later, the Federal High Court heard. They fought across Somalia, including attacks on the African Union Mission in Somalia, and plotted a 2011 terror attack in Ethiopia.

The group’s leader Aman Assefa also led al-Shabaab’s Ethiopian branch, the court was told.

The convicts were given prison sentences ranging from four years, 10 months to 21 years.
