Coordinated suicide attack thwarted in Mehtarlam city by Afghan intelligence
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A coordinated suicide kaboom plot by anti-government armed Lions of Islam was thwarted by the Afghan intelligence operatives in eastern Laghman province of Afghanistan.The Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security ...the Afghan national intel agency... (NDS), said the intelligence operatives seized 4 suicide attack vests before the Lions of Islam use them for the attack in Mehtarlam city. A statement by NDS said the Afghan intelligence also confiscated some explosives which the Lions of Islam wanted to use for the attack. According to NDS, the Lions of Islam were looking to use the explosives to carry out attacks in crowded parts of Mehtarlam city. No further details were given regarding the potential targets of the jacket wallahs and it is not clear if any suspect was enjugged Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please! in connection to the attack plot. Laghman is among the relatively volatile provinces in eastern Afghanistan where anti-government armed Lions of Islam are active in a number of its remote districts.
