Police prevent terrorist act in Kaspiisk, Dagestan
A powerful explosive device was defused on the night of May 16, in Kaspiysk, a town in the North Caucasian republic of Dagestan where a terrorist explosion killed 42 people on May 9. The bomb, a powerful homemade explosive device consisting of an antipersonnel mine, an electric detonator and a remote control unit, was found in a car in the centre of Kaspiisk. The discovery was made by officers from the republican Department for Combating Extremism and Criminal Terrorism in the course of an operation codenamed ''Whirlwind''.
