Syrian rebels capture 2 towns in Aleppo
[ARA News] ALEPPO – Subsequent to clashes with militants of the Islamic State (ISIS), Syrian opposition groups took control of two towns in the northern countryside of Aleppo province, military sources reported on Sunday.

The opposition fighters launched an offensive against ISIS headquarters near the border with Turkey, and captured the towns of Braghida and Kafr Shoush.

“Under heavy bombardment by the rebel forces, ISIS militants withdrew from areas near Azaz city, including Kafr Shoush and Braghida,” rebel spokesman Salih al-Zain told ARA News.

At least 22 ISIS members were killed in the clashes, where heavy weapons have been used by both sides. On the other hand, four opposition fighters were killed and nine more were wounded, according to the rebel official.

Also on Sunday, clashes broke out between ISIS and Syrian rebels near the Marea city north of Aleppo, after an attempt by ISIS fighters to storm rebel positions inside the city. “ISIS retreated after suffering heavy losses,” al-Zain said.
