Explosive belt southwest of Baqubah seized

(IraqiNews.com) Diyala – An source from the National Security Service in Diyala Province revealed about seizing an explosive belt in an under construction house southwest of Baqubah.

According to information shared by the source, it was stated, “A special team of the National Security Service in coordination with Diyala Police this morning seized an explosion-ready explosive belt from inside an under construction house near Beni Saad (20 km southwest of Baqubah). The belt was dismantled and a suspect was arrested.”

The source added, “The operation was carried out based on accurate intelligence information.”

5 convicted terrorists arrested in Diyala

(IraqiNews.com) Diyala – A security source in Diyala Province revealed, that five persons, wanted on charges of terrorism, were arrested from several areas of the province.

According to information shared by the source, it was mentioned, “Detachments of the National Security Service and Diyala police carried out a number of raids in several areas of the province, including Baqubah, in the last few hours. During the raids five persons wanted on charges of terrorism were arrested.”

The source added, “Some of the arrested persons were members of several armed groups including ISIS.”

Diyala cancels Eid al-Fitr celebrations in solidarity with Karrada victims

(IraqiNews.com) Diyala – The administration of Diyala province announced canceling Eid al-Fitr celebrations in solidarity with the victims of al-Karrada bombing that shook Baghdad on Sunday.

The Governor of Diyala Muthana al-Tamimi, in a statement issued to the media, said, “The administration of Diyala province decided to cancel the celebration of Eid al-Fitr in solidarity with the victims of al-Karrada massacre in the capital Baghdad, which claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent people.”i

Tamimi added, “Karrada massacre is a repetition of the bloody massacres that struck Diyala in the last months and resulted in about 1000 casualties.”
