Maoist militants injure infantryman in southern Philippines
 [Mindanao Examiner] Maoist militants ambushed a group of Philippine soldiers in southern Philippines and injured an infantryman in Tandag City in Surigao del Sur province. The New People's Army said many soldiers were either killed or injured in the attack, but the 4th Infantry Division said only one was injured in the attack.The soldier, Marlo Bayo, was evacuated to Cagayan de Oro City. Bayo's unit was sent to rescue PO1 Richard Yu Jr. who was taken prisoner by militants in Carmen town on July 5. Military spokesmen said operations against the communist rebels were continuing in the region.
